If you want to weave a
Diamond Weave seat
(or back)
that looks like this:

Diamond Splint Weave

I developed and wrote these original Diamond Splint Weave
instructional steps over the years from actually weaving
chairs and rockers and helping (and teaching) others.
I learned to cane from my Father who learned from his Mother. This pattern is easy to master, particularly if you have done a Splint Weave or a Herringbone Weave.

The weaving flows easy as the instructions help you with the layout and the reversals. This pattern is so attractive, and dignifies a poor old country cousin. Dressing it up to make
it a special chair that is very eye-catching.

Their are tips on joining and staining to make the pattern
stand out. The fun part is once learned, you may create your own. If you reverse this pattern it comes out as 'exploding X's Another eye catching easy pattern to do is a chevron, particularly on a big back of a rocker. When a daughter turned 4, I put wove her initials, and a '4' into the seat.

There have recently been several 'knockoffs'
to this pattern book.
They say imitation is flattery, but the directions
are distressing to me.
It is important to weave a solid, tight seat, your time and craftsmanship is important.

Caning (seat weaving) is fun,
and as I discuss the frame of mind is important.
Sit back, take the pressure away, and enjoy the process.
